Job description
What You’ll Do:
The Employment Legal team sits within CoreWeave's Legal & Government Affairs (LGA) organisation and advises the business on the full employment lifecycle across all jurisdictions in which we operate globally. The team partners with leaders across the business to provide practical, business-minded legal guidance on hiring, workplace policies, compliance, employee relations, and dispute resolution as CoreWeave scales internationally. The team is pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and deeply engaged in strategic decision-making, with a strong emphasis on building trusted relationships across the organisation.
As CoreWeave's first employment counsel based in Europe, you will serve as a senior employment law adviser for the region and lead the development of foundational employment legal infrastructure, regional strategy, and scalable processes and compliance frameworks. You will build trusted relationships with senior People and business stakeholders and help shape how CoreWeave approaches employment risk across Europe for a rapidly growing, multi-jurisdictional workforce, navigating a complex and varied regulatory landscape while serving as a trusted adviser to the business.
About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Managing Associate General Counsel, Employment, you will partner closely with the People team and other key stakeholders, including local European People leads and HRBPs, Privacy & Compliance, Tax, Payroll, Data Center Operations, Commercial, and Corporate Development, to provide strategic and day-to-day employment law advice across Europe and lead significant regional employment workstreams.
In this role, you will:
- Provide day-to-day and strategic advice on employment law matters across Europe, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, terminations, redundancies, restructurings, and employment and separation documentation, including on complex, sensitive, and high-impact matters involving senior stakeholders or multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise on collective employment matters, including works councils, employee representative bodies, collective consultation requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and TUPE-related issues (and equivalent EU transfer-of-undertaking regimes), including in connection with restructurings or business transfers.
- Advise on internal workplace investigations and employee relations matters, escalating and coordinating with outside counsel as needed.
- Partner with the Privacy, Regulatory & Compliance Legal team to advise on data privacy and employment law intersections, including employee data rights and access requests, background screening, employee monitoring, and other workplace privacy issues.
- Partner with the People team on EORs, PEOs, and other workforce arrangements across multiple jurisdictions, including transitions from EOR/PEO to direct employment.
- Advise on the employment aspects of new-country launches, entity build-outs, and other international expansion initiatives across the region, including identifying legal and operational requirements, risks, dependencies, and appropriate implementation approaches.
- Advise on cross-border mobility and immigration-related considerations as CoreWeave expands its footprint across the region.
- Draft, review, and interpret employment policies, agreements, and procedures tailored to local legal requirements, while identifying opportunities for regional consistency and scalable approaches where appropriate.
- Support the employment aspects of M&A and other strategic transactions, including employment diligence, employee transfer and consultation requirements, transaction-related employment documentation, and post-closing integration.
- Lead the day-to-day management of employment-related disputes and litigation across the region, including employment tribunal claims, agency and regulatory complaints, and pre-litigation demands, escalating material strategy, settlement, and other significant decisions as appropriate.
- Serve as a senior employment-law partner to colleagues in Legal, People, and business teams across the Americas and APAC, including across time zones and, as needed, outside local business hours, to support a global, always-on workforce.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across Europe and proactively flag risks, trends, and strategic implications to Legal, People, and business stakeholders.
- Support the management of outside counsel, including local and regional counsel, by appropriately scoping requests, coordinating day-to-day workstreams, reviewing and translating advice into practical guidance, and escalating material recommendations and decisions as appropriate.
- Identify recurring legal and operational issues and develop scalable regional frameworks, playbooks, templates, training, and processes to address them.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior stakeholders on emerging employment risks and help establish regional priorities and risk-management approaches in partnership with Employment Legal leadership.
Who You Are:
- 9+ years of relevant employment law experience, including advising on European workforce matters, gained through a combination of law firm practice and in-house experience in a multinational environment; experience at a global technology or publicly traded company is strongly preferred.
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
- Demonstrated depth of experience advising on multi-jurisdictional employment matters across Europe, including collective employment and industrial relations issues such as works councils, employee consultation requirements, and TUPE (and EU equivalents).
- Experience supporting employment aspects of M&A, international expansion, and/or restructurings, including diligence, employee transfers or integration, and consultation requirements where applicable.
- Experience with EORs, PEOs, or comparable workforce models across Europe.
- Working knowledge of GDPR and its intersection with employment matters, including employee data rights and access requests, background screening, and employee monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex, high-impact employment matters, balance legal risk against business objectives, provide clear and practical recommendations, and exercise sound judgment regarding when consultation or escalation is appropriate.
- Strong executive presence and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders, communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, collaborate across functions, and build trusted relationships across jurisdictions and time zones.
- Excellent drafting, written, verbal communication, legal interpretation, and research skills.
- A commitment to professional conduct, excellence, and meticulous attention to detail, sometimes under time pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to identify systemic issues and develop scalable legal frameworks, policies, processes, or playbooks rather than addressing recurring matters solely on a case-by-case basis.
- Experience working with or coordinating outside counsel, including local/regional counsel across multiple jurisdictions, with sound judgment regarding when external expertise is warranted and when matters can appropriately be handled in-house.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with incomplete information, establish priorities among competing demands, and drive complex cross-functional workstreams to resolution.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in another relevant European language is a plus
Preferred:
- Track record of building or scaling employment legal infrastructure, processes, and stakeholder relationships in-region, ideally as a first or early in-house employment hire.
- Experience advising on employment matters in the Middle East and/or Africa.
- Experience supporting immigration and cross-border mobility matters.
