Job description

Most HR and TA content is dry. Compliance updates, feature lists, the same thought-leadership recycled by every vendor in the space. We want Zinc to be the exception: sharp, useful, actually worth reading.

That's the job.

About Zinc

We help HR and TA teams screen candidates properly, based on the belief that there’s a better way to do background checking - for candidates and employers. Our marketing function is building toward a world-class, content-led engine: one that makes us a trusted authority with HR and TA communities, grows our share of voice in the UK and international markets, and turns strong customer relationships into advocacy.

About the role

This role sits at the centre of that. You'll report into the Head of Brand & Content, working alongside Demand Generation, Outbound, Partnerships, Creative, Lifecycle and Product Marketing to create the stories we tell the market. You're the person operationalising production and building content prospects will actually talk about: brainstorming, reinventing tired formats, drafting the sharp headline, crafting the bold campaign.

You'll manage a small, established and lovely team (Maria and Rushali) from the outset, with scope to grow it if there's the need and the commercial impact. This is a player-coach role, built for someone who wants to create and coach in equal measure.

Day to day, you could be working on:
  • Content creation and campaign planning. Creating content across formats, not just briefing others to do it. Autonomy across strategy, ideation and creation should feel energising, not like a chore someone's handed you. Ideally you come with examples of your own content - how you’ve sweated an asset across channels, and how you’ve taken something traditionally dry and made it interesting.
  • Editorial strategy and planning. Owning the 12-month editorial calendar, the workload and resource plan behind it, establishing the playbook for how content and campaigns get made at Zinc, while keeping creativity, interest and standards sky high.
  • Team leadership. Growing Maria and Rushali's impact further, prioritising the biggest opportunities first, and building what's already strong into a world-class content production house.
  • Thought leadership. As a team, building the content plan across events, press, long-form, video, social, case studies, blogs, and product marketing that makes Zinc cut through with our audience - bringing new ways of thinking and finding the hooks in what we’re saying.
  • International expansion. As Zinc pushes beyond the UK, evolving the content and thought leadership plan to land with HR and TA audiences in new markets, not just translating what already works here.
  • Partnerships and PR. Supporting the Head of Brand & Content on partner marketing and PR, keeping it tied to the wider editorial calendar.
Your support system
You won't do it alone. You'll work alongside Demand Generation, Outbound, Partnerships, Creative, Lifecycle and Product Marketing, plus a Head of Brand & Content helping shape strategy, direction and positioning with you.
  • Share of voice: growth in branded search and content visibility, evidence Zinc is becoming a recognised authority with HR and TA audiences in the UK and new markets.
  • Thought leadership: engagement (shares, downloads, comments) and third-party recognition (press mentions, speaking or podcast invites). Zinc as a source, not just another publisher.
  • Editorial delivery: a 12-month calendar running to plan, with workload and resourcing that scales without content becoming the bottleneck.
  • Team growth: Maria and Rushali's scope and output growing, with the biggest opportunities getting prioritised first.
  • Commercial influence: a clear, provable link between content and pipeline, retention or advocacy, tracked in Dreamdata and reported on regularly. Enabling Maria (Content and Discoverability Manager) on delivering more organic traffic from SEO and LLMs, and linking back to business outcomes.
  • International traction: content and thought leadership landing with HR and TA audiences in new markets, not just UK content reused elsewhere.
  • Significant content marketing experience at a senior level in B2B SaaS, high-growth companies preferred, creating content people actually engage with. You can clearly draw the line between your work and the commercial outcome it drove.
  • You’ve got a high bar, and a clear perspective on what will grab audiences attention.
  • Proven ability to create and operationalise high-production content at scale, like reinventing a format such as case studies, ideally with a playbook to show for it.
  • Real, hands-on production experience across mediums: written, video, audio, whatever the story needs, with a sharp eye for what good looks like across different channels and audiences.
Musts
  • An actual player-coach: you get energised by making things yourself. This isn't a role for someone who thinks execution is beneath them.
  • People management experience: you can direct, support and develop direct reports, not just review their work.
  • Real ambition to grow into a broader brand and content marketing leadership role over time.
Nice to haves
  • Experience creating content for businesses with complicated, multi-person buying networks, and/or a complex regulated market, where you've had to cut through with a genuinely new angle.
  • A track record of pushing beyond the obvious format, willing to break the mould while staying true to the ICP.
  • 24 days holiday + Bank Holidays + your birthday off 🎉
  • £1200 annual benefits allowance (ThanksBen, from month 2)
  • Early finish Fridays (16:00)
  • Yearly company retreat abroad ✈️
  • 30 days to Work from anywhere 🌍
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity, and Adoption Leave (13 weeks full pay, 17 weeks half pay, then SMP for maternity, 1 month full pay for paternity/adoption) 🐣
  • Statutory pension with NEST (3% employer, 5% employee)
  • Zinc shares, issued through the EMI Scheme
  • Unlimited access to Spill Therapy
  • Company socials, quarterly team socials Free Monday lunches
  • Nursery workplace benefit scheme (Yellownest)
  • Option to lease an electric car through Electric Car Scheme
  • Celebrated Zinc anniversaries 🥳
