Sales Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for a part time sales assistant at Glenray Jewellers, a long established, independent jeweller and third generation family business.

We are a small, owner led business with a friendly and professional approach. This role would suit someone who would enjoy working closely with an experienced owner in a small team environment where trust, reliability and customer care and sales ability are all important.

You will support customers, build trust and help convert enquiries into sales in a professional, honest and considered way.

HOURS

The shop is open Monday to Saturday. The time is expected to be 3 to 3.5 days a week, including regular Saturdays.

Full days: 8.50am-5.50pm with a 45 minute lunch break.

Wednesday half day : 8.50am -1.30pm

Saturdays are essential.

Exact working days will usually follow a regular pattern and will be agreed with some flexibility required to provide cover when needed.

The role includes:

• Actively selling jewellery and supporting customers through their purchase decisions.
• Working closely with the owner and small team to provide a high standard of customer service.
• Confidently discussing products, pricing and options with customers.
• Contributing to successful sales outcomes through good listening, product presentation and follow up.
• Building rapport and encouraging repeat visits.
• Handling repair, valuation and special order enquiries.
• Processing sales accurately and professionally.
• Supporting the smooth day to day running of the shop.
• Opening and closing duties including putting window and counter displays out each morning and removing and securing them at the end of the day.
• Cleaning and preparing jewellery for display or customer viewing where necessary, using appropriate methods and equipment.
• General housekeeping tasks, including keeping displays, counters and the shop floor, clean, tidy and presentable.
• Full product and systems training will be provided. A strong sales mindset is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a small, owner led business.

Essential skills and experience:

• Proven face to face retail sales experience.
• Comfortable speaking with customers about products and pricing.
• Able to support and progress sales conversations professionally.
• Confident, articulate and customer focused.
• Reliable, punctual and well presented.
• Jewellery experience is desirable but not essential.

Pay

£13.50 to £14.50 per hour, depending on experience.
