Rough Sleep Support Worker

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a Rough Sleep Support Worker, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £24.32 - £30.87 per hour

Summary:

The Rough Sleep Support Worker role aims to ensure rough sleeping is rare, brief and non-recurring by delivering timely, effective and multi-disciplinary interventions. You will provide a responsive and adaptable street outreach service, engaging with rough sleepers, building trust and supporting individuals to access accommodation, housing-related support and other services.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver an intelligence-led, flexible and responsive street outreach service across known rough sleeping hotspots, identifying new rough sleepers and ensuring timely intervention, assessment, accommodation and support.
• Engage with rough sleepers, providing intensive support, motivation and assistance to access accommodation and relevant support services.
• Lead crisis intervention work where necessary and coordinate with emergency services and other relevant agencies.
• Complete comprehensive risk assessments and develop support plans for rough sleepers and individuals in temporary accommodation.
• Support individuals to access services relating to physical and mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, budgeting, debt, benefits and income maximisation.
• Develop and support independent living skills, including shopping, cooking, budgeting and cleaning, to help individuals sustain future tenancies.

Qualification:

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A–C (or an equivalent Level 2 NVQ qualification), or demonstrable equivalent capability.

Essentials:

• Experience working or volunteering in a housing or care-related role providing support to vulnerable customers.
• Practical experience in assessment, support provision, key working and advocacy.
• Experience working effectively in partnership with a range of stakeholders.
• Understanding of housing and homelessness issues, including the main causes of rough sleeping and barriers to accommodation and support services.
• Working knowledge of welfare benefits available to single homeless people.
