About the Role
As a High Voltage Project Manager at VEV, you will oversee the high voltage (HV) elements of electrification programs tailored to fleet customers across diverse sectors, including buses, logistics, ports, airports, and hubs. Your work will encompass EV, solar, and battery solutions, delivering comprehensive turnkey programs that span design, planning, grid connections and upgrades, HV infrastructure, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations. You will work closely with distribution network operators (DNOs), independent connection providers (ICPs), designers and delivery partners to bring complex electrical infrastructure projects safely into service.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, execute and oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements
Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives, fostering collaboration across departments
Monitor project performance, track progress, and address risks or issues as they arise
Communicate project updates, milestones, and outcomes to stakeholders through clear reporting and presentations
Manage HV specific programme risks, approvals, outages, site safety requirements and readiness for testing, and handover
Oversee the delivery of HV infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchgear and associated electrical works, ensuing clear interfaces within the wider EV charging programme
Coordinate HV design, connection applications, utility interfaces, energisation plans and commissioning activities with DNOs, ICPs and specialist contractors
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations standards, and policies
Promote adherence to quality standards and implement processes for continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 3 years project management experience, ideally within HV electrical infrastructure, grid connections, utilities, or the electrical vehicle and renewable energy sectors
Proven expertise in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
Strong technical understanding of HV electrical infrastructure, substations, transformers, switchgear, grid connections and their integration with EV charging and renewable energy systems
Experience delivering HV connections, substations or grid reinforcement projects, including coordination with DNOs, ICPs and specialist electrical contractors
Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure and deliver tight deadlines
Hands on site experience and practical technical skills
Experience working on live construction sites with a strong understanding of HV safety, permit to work processes and coordination with authorised electrical specialists
Full driving licence required
