Are you an experienced fundraiser who knows how to make supporters feel connected to the difference they make? Join The Salvation Army's Major Donor team and help grow the support that enables us to offer practical help to people and communities across the UK.

About the role

As our High Value Manager, you'll develop and deliver a tailored supporter experience for a portfolio of more than 200 donors giving between £5,000 and £10,000. Combining thoughtful relationship management with compelling communications, you'll help supporters understand the impact of their generosity and inspire them to deepen their involvement.
Working within an innovative, collaborative philanthropy team, you'll support fundraising across areas including homelessness, debt advice, employability, modern slavery and anti-human trafficking, and community support.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement a High Value donor strategy that strengthens relationships and delivers sustained income.
  • Manage existing donor relationships and engage prospective supporters through tailored plans and regular contact by telephone and email.
  • Create engaging appeals, proposals, cases for support and updates that bring the impact of our work to life.
  • Use data, insight and prospect research to identify opportunities, increase support and monitor progress against personal income targets.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Philanthropy, Marketing and Fundraising, Finance and operational teams.
  • Ensure your fundraising reflects ethical standards, relevant requirements and The Salvation Army's values.

About you

You'll bring successful fundraising experience, a strong understanding of the supporter journey and practical experience of developing approaches that build engagement and generate sustained income.
We're looking for someone with:
  • Strong relationship management skills and the confidence to engage new and existing supporters.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to turn information into compelling, donor-focused messages.
  • Commercial awareness and prospect research experience.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise independently, meet objectives and improve ways of working.
  • Budgeting and financial reporting skills, including accurate recording and monitoring of financial data.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools and donor databases or CRM systems.
Experience of events management, high-value charity fundraising, relevant fundraising and data protection requirements, or working within a national charity or faith-based organisation would be an advantage.
You'll need flexibility to work outside normal office hours and occasionally away from home, alongside a willingness to work within and be sympathetic to The Salvation Army's Christian ethos and values.
