Job description
- Every line of dialogue in Star Citizen and Squadron 42 has to land on screen at the right moment, spelled and punctuated exactly as it should be, and accessible to every player
- As our embedded Subtitle and Narrative QA Specialist, that’s your job
- You’ll work alongside our Narrative, Audio, UI Tech and QA teams to make sure it happens
- No previous games QA experience? No problem. If you have a great eye for detail and a love of language, we’ll train you in the rest
- Test that subtitles trigger, match the spoken line, and time and prioritise correctly across cinematics, ambient scenes and in-game wildlines
- Review subtitles and other in-game text (UI, objectives, markers, items text) against Narrative style guidelines
- Create closed captions to our agreed standards
- Log clear, reproducible bugs (string IDs, build details, capture) and follow them through to closure, with training on our tools, including Jira
- Track down issues at source with Narrative, Audio and UI Tech, and suggest process and tooling improvements
- Maintain test cases and coverage tracking and report progress to leadership
Benefits
- Employer funded tax-free Health Reimbursement Arrangement for qualified medical expenses up to $5,000 per employee and $15,000 per family
- Flexible Spending and Dependent Care Accounts
- Paid Short and Long Term Disability Leave
- Life Insurance & AD&D coverage
- 401(k) Plan with up to 4% company match
- Pet Insurance
- Discounted Gym Membership through CIGNA
- Yearly Flu-shot Clinic
- Employee Resource Groups for traditionally underrepresented groups, minorities and allies
- Full Medical, Dental and Vision coverage (100% free for employee level coverage and subsidized for dependents)
- An interest in accessibility and why good captions matter to players
- A passion for games, especially narrative-driven sim and space games
- A methodical mindset: you enjoy tracking down exactly why something isn’t right, and explaining it clearly
- Organisation and accuracy when working through large volumes of dialogue to deadline
- Exceptional written English and a sharp eye for spelling, punctuation and consistency
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work closely with Narrative, Audio, UI and wider QA teams
- Experience in games QA, or in subtitling, captioning, proofreading, editing or localisation (games, film or TV)
- Familiarity with Jira, Perforce or data-driven text systems (string IDs)
- Knowledge of caption conventions such as reading speed, line length, speaker ID and non-speech audio
- Python scripting, or familiarity with recognised captioning standards
