📍 Location: InPost Distribution, C1 – C3 Longbridge Meadow, Cullompton, EX15 1BT
📅 Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday (flexibility required)
🕒 Hours: 07:00am - 15:00pm (flexibility required)
💰 Salary: Competitive
What you’ll be doing:
Step into a role where every day brings new opportunities to lead, innovate, and make an impact. As Depot Manager at InPost, you’ll take full responsibility for the performance and success of our depot, leading a fast paced, 24 hour parcel logistics operation and ensuring we deliver an exceptional service to our customers and partners.
You’ll be accountable for the overall operational performance of the depot, ensuring we consistently achieve the required service, cost, quality and performance standards. You’ll use data and key performance indicators to identify opportunities, address challenges and drive continuous improvement across the operation.
You’ll be responsible for developing a strong and engaged team, ensuring the right people are recruited, supported and developed to deliver against business objectives. You’ll set clear expectations, encourage accountability and create an environment where people can perform at their best.
You’ll also have ownership of the depot’s financial performance, including budgets, costs and resource utilisation. You’ll monitor performance against budget, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and take appropriate action to control costs while maintaining high operational standards.
Customer service will be at the heart of everything you do. You’ll build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, understand customer expectations and ensure the depot consistently delivers against agreed service levels. You’ll take ownership of issues, resolve challenges effectively and look for opportunities to improve the customer experience.
Safety, security and compliance will be fundamental to your role. You’ll ensure the depot operates in line with all relevant health and safety, legal and regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of parcel security and operational control.
You’ll also be a key driver of change and innovation. We’re looking for someone who challenges the status quo, embraces new ideas and actively looks for smarter and more effective ways of working. You’ll share best practice, support wider business initiatives and contribute to projects that help InPost continue to grow and improve.
In this role, your commercial awareness, operational expertise and ability to turn performance data into action will help shape the future success of the depot.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re searching for an exceptional operational professional who thrives in a high energy, 24 hour logistics environment and has the confidence, commercial awareness and experience to manage a large scale operation.
You’ll be a great fit if you bring:
• Proven experience managing a large scale logistics, distribution or operational environment, ideally within a depot setting.
• Strong commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing budgets, controlling costs, monitoring resource utilisation and contributing to financial performance.
• A strong track record of using KPIs, operational data and performance information to identify issues, improve efficiency and deliver measurable results.
• Experience managing and developing sizeable teams, with an understanding of recruitment, performance management, training and development.
• A strong customer focus, with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders and consistently deliver against service expectations.
• Experience managing operational and legal compliance, including health and safety, security and relevant industry requirements.
• A natural curiosity and a drive to innovate, with the confidence to challenge existing ways of working and introduce improvements.
• The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions when faced with conflicting priorities, stretching targets and challenging operational situations.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively, manage competing demands and ensure plans are delivered.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders and across different areas of the business.
• A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of challenges and seeing them through to a successful conclusion.
