Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lambeth to assist with the appointment of a Children Services YOS Team Manager, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £29.92 - £39.45 per hour

Summary:

The Children Services YOS Team Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management, supervision and practice development of a team within the Youth Justice Service. The postholder will provide strong practice leadership, ensuring that youth justice interventions, assessments, case management and safeguarding activities are delivered to a consistently high standard and in accordance with statutory requirements, national standards, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide operational leadership to a team within the Youth Justice Service, ensuring effective delivery of service objectives and priorities.
  • Allocate cases and incoming work appropriately, monitoring workloads and ensuring assessments, reports, reviews and case records are completed accurately and within statutory timescales.
  • Quality assure assessments, intervention plans, reports and casework to ensure compliance with legislation, national standards, professional guidance and local procedures.
  • Monitor and manage cases involving complex needs, vulnerabilities, safeguarding concerns and risks of reoffending.
  • Monitor team performance and contribute to service planning, performance management, monitoring and evaluation.

Qualification:

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Youth Justice, Community Justice, Social Work, Criminology, Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Relevant professional youth justice qualification or recognised professional certification in effective practice.

Essentials:

  • Significant post-qualification experience within youth justice, children's services, probation, social care or a closely related environment.
  • Experience of quality assuring assessments, reports, intervention plans and casework.
  • Experience of interpreting and applying youth justice legislation, statutory guidance, national standards and effective practice frameworks.
  • Experience of chairing meetings and communicating effectively with children, young people, parents, professionals and partner organisations.
