The Analysts in our Business Intelligence Unit use their expertise and knowledge to bring reporting requirements to life. The team produces a wide range of reporting to meet our customers’ and business needs, and supports effective decision making and the efficient delivery of organisational goals. They use data sources from across FCDO Services’ systems, and are constantly looking to improve the ways in which they support our business. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

Providing a story behind the data.
Delivering accurate and insightful analysis.
Working together across our organisation.
It all matters.

Develop your Business Intelligence skills in this unique, fast-paced role

When you join our Central Reporting team as a Business Intelligence Developer you’ll have the career defining opportunity to grow your skills, knowledge and expertise as you work on a range of reporting challenges and help our organisation’s stakeholders understand the story behind their data. From the moment you start with us you will make an important contribution to real reporting work as you learn to use Power BI, develop your technical skills and move towards greater autonomy. Operating in a busy, fast-paced environment, you will be exposed to a number of different areas of our organisation, working with a range of systems and datasets, requirements and requests. Some of the data sets include Projects and Business Data, Finance, CRM, to name just a few.

You will be liaising directly with stakeholders from across FCDO Services, and your day-to-day tasks will include supporting up-to-date reporting outputs, and applying the best choice of tools for the capture and presentation of key project and business information. Supporting the maintenance of the enterprise-wide tools which support our operation, and identifying any anomalies in the data you work with, we’ll also expect you to provide input to change impact assessments and problem resolution, and support the implementation of positive solutions and preventative measures. This is a role where you will learn about what data tells us, why it matters, the insights we can take from it and how it can help our organisation make better decisions.

Join us on our exciting global mission

Naturally curious, proactive and self-motivated, when you join us in this role you’ll have the confidence to manage several pieces of work at the same time, organise your own workload and diary, and move comfortably between competing requirements. With a genuine interest in growing your Power BI skills, and a well developed understanding of data analysis tools and visualisation, you will also be a highly creative and enthusiastic problem solver with a strong appetite to learn new ideas and techniques.

Capable of working both independently and as a collaborative member of a team, your confident communication and interpersonal skills will see you building highly productive relationships with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders, including some who are more senior to you. And in addition to being capable of summarising and presenting data and conclusions in the most appropriate format, we’ll also expect you to have proven experience of using data visualisation tools and Microsoft 365, with a particular focus on SharePoint.

Discover the support you need to grow your career

Working with us, you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of, and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve SC (Security clearance). You can find out more about vetting at fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
