Assistant Accountant

Denbigh | £34,000–£40,000 depending on experience | Office based

Hamilton Jones Consulting is recruiting an Assistant Accountant for a growing, multi-company business in Denbigh. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines management accounts and financial analysis with responsibility for the day-to-day finance processes that keep the business running.

Working in a small team, you’ll have the freedom to investigate issues, improve processes and take ownership of your work across several group companies.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reviewing performance against budgets and forecasts, explaining key variances.
• Managing banking, customer receipts, collections, refunds and supplier payment runs.
• Maintaining accurate ledgers, cash flow forecasts and supporting schedules.
• Helping with year-end reporting, tax returns and finance projects.
• Identifying practical ways to improve controls and streamline processes.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have solid accounts experience and be comfortable moving between transactional work and management accounting. You may be AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or have gained equivalent skills through experience.

You’ll need strong Excel and reconciliation skills, good judgement and the confidence to see a task through without close supervision. Experience with Sage Line 50 or Sage 200, automated customer collections, or accounts across multiple companies would be particularly useful.
